My mentor had me obtain data on the attendance for a list of counties in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Once I found the data, I created a heat map to visually show where the most and least attendance was coming from.
2021 Survey Summary
At the end of the 2021 calendar year, I tackled a project that summarized the food and beverage portion of surveys that had been sent out throughout the year. One way I went more in depth to analyze the data was to look at each day of the week for the overall experience to see if there needs to be improvement on any day.
Text Message Forecast
One of the main projects during my time at the internship was to find any patterns or trends for when the best time is to send out text messages. There are various texts that are sent out, for example, sales going on or games coming up. I studied the days of the week as well as time of day that would be most optimal to send out a text message. For instance, if a text had to be sent out a particular day of the week, I found the best time of that day where the open rates are highest and opt-out rates are lowest.
Survey Results
There would be surveys sent out to attendees of games that asked questions about the food and beverage, merchandise, suggestions, etc. I would take these results and have data for each game as well as a general summary of all games combined. This data was good to look at for those in charge of food and beverage as well as merchandise.
Weather Impact
The main project I took initiative on doing was how the weather impacts the ticket sales. I thought about starting up this project and my mentor thought it would be a great help to them as well. I did lots of research for the entire 2021 Mud Hens season to find the temperature and chance of rain for gameday up to ten days out. While this project took lots of time, I believe I found very valuable information for the organization so that they are able to have a better prediction of how many attendees there will be for games, solely depending on weather.
